NYU Law Fashion Week(ly)

Written by Ijeoma Eke | Photography by Shang Saavedra, Patrick Taqui, and Hsing Yun Teng

This week, we are featuring three, super-stylish NYU Law students. Deniz Gürbüz ’16, Jason Shin ’17, and Alex Reed ’17. As always, we ask our guests three questions:

  1. How would you describe your style?
  2. What, or who, inspires your style?
  3. What is your favorite article of clothing?

Gürbüz ’16

[I describe my style as] feminine, classic, and colorful.
I draw inspiration from many different style icons and eras. My favorites include Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy, Kate Middleton, and 1970s Christian Dior.

My black, patent leather pumps [are my favorite]. They are my go-to pair of heels, and they elevate any outfit.

Jason Shin ’17

Jason Shin 2
[My style is] eclectic. I find myself liking one or two things from different styles and combining them.
Jason Shin 3
No one person inspires me, but my father taught me the importance of dressing well. He would wear a suit everyday, even though he changed into scrubs when he got to the hospital. Would you want to see your doctor roll in with flip flops? Me neither.

Jason Shin 1
[My favorite shirt] is my grey V-neck. [It is] basic, versatile, and quite soft.

Alex Reed ’17

Alex Reed 1
[My style is] Tom Ford meets Virgil Abloh.
Alex Reed 2
[I am inspired by] the eclectic mixture of styles in New York City; from power suits to hipsters.
Alex Reed 3
[My] Zara double-breasted pea coat [is my favorite]. Very versatile; can wear it whether I’m in a suit and monk straps or a long tee and sneakers.
